Water House

Located in the South Pacific region of Costa Rica in a dense tropical forest overlooking the ocean. The concept of the house was for it to be open so that the tracking of wildife would be easy with  series of wrap around verandas. These Verandas also act as passive sun and rain protection.

The home is 100% off grid and relies on micro hydroelectric turbine and solar panels. The water is provided from a nearby spring and after leaving the turbine is directed through the house in the form of a waterfall and pools.

The house is linear in shape allowing for cross ventilation from the prevailing sea breezes. Air condition use can in this way be brought to a minimum.

Materials used are natural and durable to limit maintenance and also to blend with the surroundings.
